"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated...

I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man." -Mahatma Gandhi-

Jack is a 60 pound, one-year old Catahoula mix with the power to always make me smile.

As I walk to the kennel he begins to whimper and bay, all the time jumping and turning in circles. When I open the gate, he changes to vertical jumps from the previous whirlwinds. Not sure whether he wants to run laps in the yard or stick around for petting and other assorted affection, he sprints for a few yards and turns and sprints back - both directions at full speed.

After several laps, he sits quietly and expectantly for my full attention, which he gets. Eventually, his pent-up energy gets the best of him and he runs out in the yard to get in a few fast backyard orbits. If the next door dogs are available, Jack will entice them into running wind-sprints up and down the fence line.

Jack is sweet, loveable, energetic and intelligent. He needs lots of exercise and stimulation. Even during petting sessions, he has trouble sitting still for long and some of his gyrations are entertaining. He does an interesting forward role into a laid out position on his back so his tummy can be rubbed.

He gets along with other dogs and loves to play. He hasn’t been in contact with children or cats, but his general demeanor is laid-back (when he isn’t going Mach 1) and submissive.

He would probably do ok with older kids, who wouldn’t be intimidated by an incoming 60 pound missile.

Adoption Fee: $75.00
