What you can do to help Companion Connection:

1) Companion Connection depends on donations to feed, house and provide medical care for all the animals at the sanctuary.  See our Wish List here or visit Smile.Amazon and register Companion Connection as your non profit to support.  When you do this and use Smile.amazon.com for your shopping needs 1% of your purchases is sent to us at no extra cost to you!

2)   We are also in need of volunteers to help keep the village clean and the furbabies socialized.  If you can help us in any way, we would love to hear from you.

3) Our Sponsorship Program raises money for Companion Connection by connecting cats and dogs housed at our sanctuary with animal lovers like you! The best part is you can be a sponsor from anywhere - no matter where you live. Companion Connection provides a home to approximately 15+ cats and several dogs at any given time.  Many of these companion animals require special medical attention, are not completely socialized,  or are unlikely to be adopted due to other reasons.  These companion animals may live out their lives at the sanctuary, if necessary, and we are dedicated to providing them the love and medical care they need.  By being a member of our Sponsorship Program, your donations help cover the costs of caring for these companion animals and the sanctuary they live in. Any amount will help.  If you are interested in sponsoring a Companion Connection animal, please contact us at VillageRescue@gmail.com .  And your donations are tax deductible!

4) The next time you’re at Randalls, Remember to link your Remarkable Card to our number 12572 and your purchases will be credited to our account. Randalls will pay us a percentage of our account total. At NO COST to you, so be sure to use your card every time you shop.  Ask the checker to link your Remarkable Card to 12572. You only need to do it once, help us raise funds the easy way!

DONATIONS NEEDED!

Companion Connection needs your help to pay off our personal Care Credit bill that we used for Noko - $2,718!  Now, one of our own family dogs has an aggressive cancer and we need to use our Care Credit to pay for her veterinary care!

Can you help?  $5, $10, or whatever you can spare will help a lot if everyone pitches in and shares our need.

Companion Connection does not take owner surrender animals; rather, we try to educate how the companion animal can remain in the family and provide guidance when and where we are able.

If you have lost your companion animal, contact the Animal Control with the Elgin Police Department, Bastrop County Animal Shelter or Austin Animal Center.   Please note that Elgin, TX no longer has an animal shelter, only the Animal Control Officer working under the Elgin Police Department.  Strays picked up by Elgin Animal Control are taken to Bastrop County Animal Shelter on Cool River Drive.

Noko was surrendered to Companion Connection in 2010 when his person could no longer care for him.  He is a very big boy, weighing 16 pounds!  He is friendly and really enjoys his head scratched.  Noko has become bonded with one of our skerals, Taylor.

At the end of June, I noticed a considerable weight loss on Noko and his hair was dull and thinning.  I took him to our local vet and after the tests at their clinic, we still didn’t have an answer.  So he then went to the specialty hospital for ultrasound (which was inconclusive) and eventual endoscopy.  While he was out, a feeding tube was inserted as he had lost 3 pounds in less than a month!   Final diagnosis was Irritable Bowel Disease.  He is on steroids now which we will gradually reduce until ceased altogether.  But all his medical bills ran just under $3,000!   This was put on our personal care credit and now we need to pay off this balance as one of our family dogs just came down with cancer and we need to care for her!

Any financial assistance you might provide for Noko will be greatly appreciated Donations can be made using our PayPal Donation button.  Just put “For Noko” in the comments section and the money will go directly for his care.  Consider sponsoring Noko for just $30 a month.

Socks Needs His Furever Home!

Socks is a sweet boy that was sent to us by a Good Sam.  He had been living on their front porch for a while but seemed to be losing weight.  Their cats did not welcome Socks, so they reached out to me for help.  Upon his wellness exam, Socks tested negative for both FIV and FeLeuk!  Yay!  His birthdate is estimated to be January 1, 2017.   Socks was neutered August 8th and came through like a champ.  You'd never know he had surgery as he did not bruise or have any symptoms of pain. Socks has received his Rabies, FeLeuk and FIV vaccines.  Socks is microchipped and is litter box savvy. He really wants a family of his own.  He wants attention and wants loving.  He should be in a home with older children that will respect a cat's boundaries as he prefers not to have his booty touched.  And, he can become a tad rowdy when not receiving enough attention!   Send us an email to come meet Socks!  VillageRescue@gmail.com

This year’s Afghan is here and ready for the raffle!  As you can see, this is a good size afghan and made with love by Carol Ritter Creations, Home of the Texas Flag Afghan, Corpus Christi.  Being 100% acrylic, it is machine wash & dry.  This unique afghan would normally  sell for $65-70!

The raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20! What a deal!!! Use the PayPal donate button on this page or send a payment to PO Box 875, Elgin, TX 78621-0875.
